Thread: Running EFI Injectors after the rotors ???

    I have an EFI bugcatcher project that I am working on. I also have on order an 8-71 kit. Along with this EFI project I have a tunnel ram that was converted to EFI. I am thinking instead of getting a plate under the bugcatcher I would make an adapter plate for the base of the blower to the tunnel ram.
    I know this would be very high. I could also machine down the tunnel ram and make an adapter plate as well. My question, can an 8-71 be run "dry" or not. If not I will change up my plans and combination.

    Don't run it dry unless it was set up to run that way, otherwise put a couple of injectors in the blower inlet.

    A close clearance, hard anodized blower works fine dry, just not as efficiently. The fuel helps seal the rotors, and helps to cool the charge. Any teflon or nylatron stripped blower needs to have some fuel through it to lube the seals. The distribution is better with "down nozzles", but the cooling effect again, is less. Drag motors for years have run both top and down nozzles, that lubes and seals the rotors, and it allows different sized down nozzles in different cylinders to get better fuel distributition. Blowers tend to separate the fuel and air from front to back due to the rotor twist. Thats probably more info than you needed, take what you can use. TIMINATOR

    Just a quick side note, I have heard of EFI injectors not working properly under high boost conditions( like below the blower). I wish I had more info, but I dont.
