I still have an old Motorola bag phone in the closet... 5 watts of transmitt power and an external antenna on the car. Way better call quality than these digital phones now...
My priorities were so wacked out "back in the day", my first phone i ever owned was in my "mini truck" and it was hard wired and looked just like the phone you would have in the house. I remember parking at the beach and standing outside of my truck and talking on the phone with the cord coming through the window. Oh how we change.
My first cell phone was one of those that had to be mounted in the car and then think had almost everyone of those pictured.
