Its called the nautical star. They were popular with sailors....The North star was used to find their way home at sea in the old days. Now its just a cool tattoo alot of kids like not to sure if it has any different meaning now. They've been around a long time just popular again. Personally I like tattoos and dont have a problem with them.

Dr. Seuss book ring a bell?
Why do alot of people have spider web tats on there elbows????
If i remember correctly the spider webs symbolize being restrained, (jailtime, prison, lockdown) that sort of thing. But i could be wrong.
yea, spider webs were for doing time. looking out a jail cell, leaning on your elbows, collecting webs. webs on the inside of the elbow usually are just junkie mark cover ups
The "Nautical Star" tattoo in OC came from the top of an Orange.. If you look at the top of an orange it look's like the "Nautical Star". Pretty much indicating where they came from...but now it's just gay and trendy..
The original meaning of the spider web on the elbow was that one is "Caught up in the system." The Aryan Brotherhood used the tattoo in the 70's as a mark that you had hit another race. Now the meaning is totally watered down, people get it because they think it looks cool.
