Head flow on the old fords is usually held back by the exhaust port. The best flow I ever found, and the best head to run was the DOVE-C head. And that was without flow work, or head port work. Ford heads will take alot of carb, but stop at the point of getting the gas out. I'f you want to make a set of heads on a 460-429 work, start at the exhaust and go from there. And thats only if tou know that there is a water jacket that runs REAL close to the exhaust port and is easy to port thru. CJ heads are far and few, and basicaly close to the DOCE-C head. I'f you have a set stick with them or go aluminium, depends on the cash flow. Raced a coupple of old ford cj 429's in a jet boat back in the day and the best I did was 92 mph in a real light southwind jet.
